Exiles is a photobook inspired by the story of three women who, in the middle of their lives and after suffering years of violence, decided to move away from their partners and even from the whole world. The book is made up of two books that are interspersed, creating a narrative that visually constructs the work by weaving together the stories of three very different places in Mexico. The landscape and the setting create a dramatic and poetic scenario of the lives of these three women who isolated themselves from the world for different reasons, and who are the metaphor for addressing central themes of identity, gender and women's lives in Mexico. Adela barricaded herself in her room. From there she dedicated herself to letting her life disappear. Berta and Mercedes, on the other hand, left their village to settle in the middle of nature. Accompanied by their children and without any kind of service, they forged a life and a territory of their own, which today, almost 80 years old and almost alone, they refuse to abandon. Each of these women sought in exile the freedom that, because of their gender, was denied to them. This book is printed in Hydra, on laser and inkjet printers and bound by hand. This gives a special character to this book, where the materials and production make each copy unique.
